My $2.68 Christmas Decoration #HomeForChristmas

I needed some decorations for the urns on my front porch, but masses of poinsettias, white birch branches or evergreens were not in the budget this year. What I came up with looks great and costs very little!

I had an idea for using a cardboard box. Yes, a plain cardboard box. My boxes are 14 x 14 and came from Wal-Mart. I happen to know from many recent moves that Wal-Mart has the cheapest boxes around. Two boxes, each bought for sixty-eight cents [okay, yes, there was some sales tax, too]. You may even have a couple of cardboard boxes laying around and be able to save the sixty-eight cents!

Satin ribbon was next. This isn't a picture of what I used, but I found some 2 yard bolts for $2.00 each to use.

I taped up my boxes, tied my cheap red ribbon around them with a big floppy bow and put them on the top of my urns. Evergreens clipped from the yard softened the look a little bit. You could skip the evergreens if you don't have any to trim. You could also just stack different size boxes for a similar look. I have a covered porch, but if you want to use these in an area that is exposed to the weather, just wrap them in plastic wrap and see how pretty they look when lights reflect off of the shimmery wrap!

There you are, my pretty packages flanking my front door along with some deer and a lantern I already had!
