Fire and Ice in Faux Fireplace!

Our DIY faux fireplace needed something to give it a fire look. I cut three logs about 3 inches thick. Then to "dress" them up for winter I added snow.
I like the addition of crisp white to the firebox area since everything there is black. The back of the faux fireplace is chalkboard. I drew a 20 second tree on the chalkboard. :)
Here's a list of supplies to make snow covered logs...because this would also look great in a centerpiece.
1. Logs
2. Approximately 3 large or 5 regular size white crayons
3. Craft heat gun {I tried a hair blow dryer but it blew crayons pieces across the table}
4. Butcher knife and board to chop crayons.
Use care when using the heat gun. It doesn't get too hot, but still use care. :)

Three logs cut to between 12 and 14 inches and stacked.





I started by "coloring" the log while melting the wax over the tops of the logs.





Using the knife I chopped crayon into pieces.





The pieces were sprinkled on top of the logs and melted using the heat gun.





I stopped just as the chunks turned smooth like melting snow. You can buy one color crayons by the box. Thanks to a reader for that tip! My readers are the best. :)
