I sanded down any rough spots on the wood circle but for the most part it was cut very well and already sanded down.
I applied two coats of Minwax Early American stain and allowed to dry overnight. I applied one coat to the back of the circle.

My choice of colors were metallic gold, two shades of green, brown for the tree trunks, and white in acrylic crafts paints.

This step took a couple of days and I waited for the layers paint to dry and added details.
After allowing all the paint to dry completely for another 24 hours, I applied three coats of Minwax Polycrylic in semi-gloss as a protective finish.
