This year, I wanted to give my a French vintage look, so I chose a theme of gold, white, and silver with hints of blue. But, this tree has THREE DECORATING SECRETS...Decorating Secret 1: To create a faux flocked look, I stuck snow-covered branches throughout the tree. This way, I can have a flocked look one year but have the flexibility to change it up if I want to do something different the next! I purchased the branches from Michaels and clipped the stems short and just put them in the tree.
Decorating Secret 2: I couldn't find pearl garland at the time {I started decorating in October!} and so instead, used Halloween costume flapper necklaces that I found on clearance. I literally draped them on the branches. Just because something isn't in the designated Christmas section at the store doesn't mean you can't use it as part of your holiday decor!
Decorating Secret 3: I skipped the traditional tree skirt and instead, used a faux fur throw! This way, I can use it year-round and don't have something else to store. Plus, a throw is typically larger than a tree skirt so there is more material to bunch and scrunch to perfection.

I used lots of different types of items to decorate underneath the tree including books, nutcrackers, birch logs, pinecones, and more!
The BEFORE
A warm nighttime glow!
