An Old Fashioned Christmas - Home for Christmas Blog Hop
I'm an old fashioned kind of girl.. I try to be modern but it just doesn't work. I tried really hard... But to no avail! So this year I gave up and embraced the past. The past with all it's glory and sepia tones and faded apple red colors. Welcome to my old fashioned home tour!
I'm teaming up with a huge number of very talented bloggers to bring you This festive event is being hosted by Hometalk and CountryLiving.com!
Upon entering my home, the first thing you'll see is this big blackboard frame, but it hides a secret, It's really a blackboard wall.
Next we have my chivalrous trunk which I decoupaged with old book pages. This trunk is from olden times and carries a history. My little elf must be hiding inside because I see that the clasps are opened.
On the trunk I have placed a mini Christmas tree nestled in an old roasting pot, because everything can be re-purposed! Next to that is my basket full of old Christmas cards.
Moving inward you can see the Christmas tree and the wall unit all dressed up in Red.
This year I have made an effort to limit my color palette and to create a cozy tree. What do you say, have I achieved this?
In order to give a vintage feel to the room I've placed old Christmas cards into frames and added brown mats.
The wall unit was decorated with a garland which I made from paper roll tubes. The books were all flipped backward and so I have a neutral canvas on which to spread my Christmas Cheer.
The snowman waits impatiently for the snow to fall. Or is he waiting for his friend the elf?
More Christmas Cards, this time displayed in a black frame alongside a snow ball.
The mirror was decorated with my homemade ornaments. You won't believe what they were made from, and the elf won't tell!
And what would Christmas be without some pinecones in a centerpiece?
I was able to achieve all of this and much more by simply repurposing and upcycling items that I already have at home. Hop on over to see the rest of my Christmas tour and to check out all the creations of the other talented bloggers.
