I have loads of vintage buttons that belonged to my grandmother. Rather than keep them in an old can where they've resided for years and years, I decided to use a selection of them to create mitten art that I can use to decorate my home for Christmas and for the winter.
The snowflake buttons are modern but the rest are vintage. The cuff is from a sweater that I planned to donate to Goodwill. This framed art is going to be enjoyed in my home until March.A mitten template is easy to find online and bags of buttons can easily be ordered if you aren't lucky enough to have a vintage supply like I do.
I started by gluing the sweater cuff to felt that I glued to a picture frame backing. Buttons were then glued into place following the mitten template.
Snowflake buttons added to the cuff are a pretty touch.
See my blog for the full tutorial for this project.
