I think I've mentioned my love affair with toilet paper tubes in the past. I get a thrill coming up with new ideas for reusing them in crafty ways. And if it involves glitter, than all the better! For the holidays, I turned a bakers dozen TP tubes into darling little Christmas trees, especially perfect for decorating with Putz houses and bottle brush trees.
The first step is to draw and cut out this pattern; then trace it onto a TP tube that's been cut down the side.
Next you'll apply a bead of hot glue down the scored edge, curve the other side around, and press it down on the hot glue. (Note: this takes a little finesse. You might want to work your tube into the cone shape before applying the glue.)
Once you've made your cone, it's time to paint and glitter.
I chose pastels, like pink and aqua, to match my Putz houses, but you can paint them any color you like.
After your paint dries, it's time for the fun to begin--glitterizing! Apply an even coat of Modge Podge to your cone and sprinkle on some extra fine white or crystal glitter and your tree should look like the pink one above.
