The Roasted Christmas Tree

You must be wondering why I've titled this the roasted Christmas tree. Well, it's all my daughter's fault and her wild imagination... or maybe not!
I have a basement that is known as the bottomless pit. It is full of junk and crap that I prefer to call "Vintage treasures". On my last trip down there I found a lovely and neglected pot. This is a picture of a similar one I have in the basement. In my excitement to do the project, I forgot to take a before picture of the original.

I also found these keys that had been collected over the last 50 years.
I wanted to make a centerpiece using an old mini Christmas tree that I had. I painted the keys with chalk paint because everything looks better when its bright white!
I threaded these through a tassel that I happened to have and added them to my mini tree.

So far so good. But the base of the tree was very small and there was no balancing the tree so I decided to use that aforementioned pot. I would place the tree in there. Before we get to that I also had a bunch of toilet paper rolls that I thought I'd repurpose. Since we are going all out on repurposing, why not?? Here's what I did with them. And you say so what?? Well they are absolutely adorable and go on the bottom of my pot! Like this:

I put the whole thing together as a centerpiece. My daughter took one look at it and said "Mom, are you going to roast the Christmas tree?"
And that is the story of how this mini vintage treasure got its' name.
