Don't Trash Yukky Looking Pillar Candles - Make Christmas Ornaments!

No matter what I do my pillar candles don't burn evenly and always end up looking awful. I hate to throw them away, so I decided to recycle them.

You probably have most of what you need on hand: Double boiler, ladle, silver thread, plastic cookie cutters and my favorite, candy molds.

Remove the label which is usually on the bottom, snip off as much of the burnt wick as possible then melt one or two candles in the double boiler on the stove top*. Do not overheat, but the wax should be runny. Remove the wick that will be floating around in the melted wax.

Turn off the heat then carefully ladle the wax into the cookie cutter shapes and the molds. (You'll need to place a loop of string into each shape in the mold first for a hanger.) Once the wax starts to harden, place the candy mold in the freezer.

This little angel is from a candy mold I purchased years ago. She is a definite favorite in our home and Father Christmas was made using a silicone mold....
